Financial education that works for immigrants
Our free, one-on-one personal finance program helps immigrants break the cycle of living paycheck-to-paycheck and plan their financial futures.
We’re working to ensure equal access to U.S. financial systems for immigrants
Financial security for every immigrant in the U.S.
Every immigrant to deserves the chance to build an emergency fund, establish a strong credit history, and save for retirement. We’re building a country where every immigrant can handle unexpected expenses and plan for their dreams.
Learning the system with no one to guide them
When they arrive in the U.S., immigrants start at zero, with no credit history, no banking relationships, and no financial mentors. But most financial education doesn’t reflect immigrants’ unique needs and realities, like sending money home or retiring abroad.
Free financial education that works for immigrants
Our free, one-on-one personal finance program addresses the root causes of financial insecurity, respecting diverse cultural traditions. We meet immigrants where they are to help them reframe limiting beliefs and master the tools to navigate U.S. financial systems.

Larissa Gomes is a Certified Financial Educator and the founder of Out of the Mattress. Previously, she worked at Bloomberg on the Terminal software used by finance pros worldwide, and at WGSN, a global consumer trend forecaster.
How it started
When she gained access to a financial advisor at Bloomberg, Larissa dove into personal finance education. But none of it addressed immigrants’ realities, like sending money home or retiring abroad. After seeing her friends give up on existing courses, she got the itch to develop her own and make it available to immigrants everywhere.
